El Mirador and cliff divers
The famous cliff divers of Acapulco did their performance right in front of El Mirador's patio. It gets a real crowd today; I don't remember its being nearly that crowded in 1951. We could sit at a table and watch them while we had lunch or dinner.
The jump was definitely more than 75 feet. They jump from two perches, one at 100 feet and the other at 135 feet. From that height, they need deep water to land in. So they have to time their dive to the waves, so the water in the cove is as deep at possible.
